Ranges include prep, materials and labour. Extensive plaster repair, high raked ceilings or heavy colour changes over dark walls sit at the upper end.

How often should you repaint interior walls?

In coastal homes here, interior walls run about 7–10 years, ceilings 10–12, and kitchens, bathrooms and hallways closer to 5–7 because they cop the most traffic, steam and cleaning. Salt air through open windows shortens all of it. Signs it's due:

Protect

Furniture centred and wrapped, drop sheets over every floor, cabinetry and fixtures masked before a lid comes off.

Clean

Sugar-soap wash on walls, trim and ceilings. Grease, salt air residue and hand oils have to go or nothing bonds.

Repair

Fill cracks, nail pops and patched plaster, then sand back flat and spot-prime stains so they never bleed through.

Seal

A full acrylic sealer coat — the step most repaint quotes leave out, and the reason colour sits even instead of patchy.

Finish

Two coats of Haymes Expression low sheen on walls and ceilings, Haymes enamel gloss on doors and trim. Cut-ins by hand.

Hand back

Rooms reset, hardware refitted, floors vacuumed, and a walkthrough with you before we call it done.

Yes — nearly every repaint we do is in an occupied home. We work room by room so you always have somewhere to sleep and cook, use low-odour low-VOC interior paint, and agree the running order with you before we start. A three-bedroom full interior usually runs 4–6 working days; a single room is often done inside a day.
